Spring's a good time to check what's accumulated near electrical equipment in your properties. Tumble dryers, washing machines, fridge freezers all need airflow. Stuff piled against them creates heat buildup. Most appliance fires start this way.

Fire risk assessments need reviewing regularly. What "regularly" means depends on your premises and level of risk. If you've checked and nothing has changed, document that decision. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 strengthened requirements for multi occupied residential buildings.

Fire research: a closed bedroom door kept a room at around 40°C while an open door room hit over 500°C in the same fire. Something to consider if you sleep with doors open.

Emergency lighting only matters when the power fails. If you never test it, you won't know it works until you need it. Monthly test: lights off, do the emergency lights come on? If not, batteries have probably failed.
